First Lady Michele Obama has set the goal of solving the childhood obesity epidemic within one generation. As she recently stated, “We all know the numbers; one in three of America’s kids are overweight or obese. And they didn’t get that way by themselves.” One of the results of her efforts is the $400 million Healthy Food Financing Initiative recently launched to help fund programs designed to provide fresh, healthy food choices to underserved urban and rural communities across the U.S.A. Further efforts will include increasing understanding of nutrition, improving the quality of food in schools, and promoting exercise. What are your thoughts?
